Attachment-Based Trauma Therapist
Hi, I’m Belinda, an attachment-based therapist with a particular interest in trauma, shame, long-term stress and relationship difficulties.
If you choose to work with me, we will begin by paying close attention to what happens between us: the pace of the work, the feelings that arise, and the ways you may reach for connection or protect yourself when relationships feel uncertain or unsafe.
My approach is rooted in attachment-based therapy. This means we may explore how your early and ongoing relationships have shaped your nervous system, your expectations of others and the patterns that continue to repeat in your life.
I do not see you as someone who needs to be fixed. I see your responses as understandable ways of surviving, coping and protecting yourself, often developed during times when you did not have the support, safety or understanding you needed.
How I work
The therapeutic relationship is an important part of our work together. I will remain curious about how you experience me, what emotions arise in our sessions and what becomes possible when therapy begins to feel safe enough.
We may gently explore old wounds, unmet needs, difficult longings and protective parts of you that have previously felt judged, misunderstood or carried alone.
Reflective practice guides the way I work. I aim to offer a steady, compassionate relationship in which we can notice what is happening without rushing, overwhelming you or forcing change before you feel ready.
Trauma, Shame and Long-Term Stress
I have a particular interest in supporting people affected by trauma, chronic stress and shame.
These experiences can influence how you feel about yourself, how safe you feel with others and how you respond to closeness, conflict, rejection or uncertainty. You may find yourself repeating relationship patterns, struggling to trust, feeling responsible for other people’s emotions or protecting yourself by withdrawing.
Together, we can begin to understand what you have survived, what you have carried alone and how these patterns may once have helped you cope.
Through a safe and consistent therapeutic relationship, those patterns can gradually become more understandable and may begin to shift.
An Inclusive and Thoughtful Approach
I am attentive to the ways power, culture, neurodivergence, physical and mental health, class, identity and lived experience can shape a person’s sense of safety, belonging and connection.
I will not make assumptions about your experience. We will explore what matters to you and how your wider circumstances have influenced your relationships, your wellbeing and the ways you have learned to navigate the world.
You are welcome to arrive exactly as you are.
We will take it from there.
